When treating a cavity, Dr. Cozzi will remove the decayed portion of the tooth and fill it with a substance called a filling. A composite filling is the most common type of filling and can be used for decayed, chipped/broken teeth or for decreasing the gap between teeth. . The material used is the same color as a regular tooth. Composite fillings provide good durability for small- to medium-sized cavities.
How it's done
Dr. Cozzi will first numb the area where the filling is to be placed, and then remove any decayed portions. A substance is applied to the area to open up the pores of the tooth for a stronger
bond, and a special light is used to harden the composite. Then, the filling is applied in thin layers until complete. After the composite has hardened, the filling will be smoothed and polished to
be comfortable and fit your bite.
