Root canal treatment is used to repair and save a tooth that has been infected from a deep cavity or cracked tooth. The procedure involves removing the pulp and the nerves of the tooth, and cleaning the infected area. If the procedure is not performed, the problem could get worse and your tooth will likely have to be extracted.
What are the signs that a root canal is needed?
What does the treatment involve?
First, an opening is made through the crown of the tooth. The root canal is thoroughly cleaned, and if Dr. Cozzi decides to complete the root canal in multiple visits, a temporary filling will be
placed for protection. During that second visit, Dr. Cozzi will remove the temporary filling, re-clean the root canal and inside of your tooth, and then place a permanent filling or crown over the
tooth.
Root canals have a high rate of success and many teeth undergoing the procedure can be saved to last a lifetime. The crown or filling will look and feel natural.
